Why does my cat keep pooping on the carpet outside of the litter box?

You need to demonstrate to the cat that the litter box is a good place to poo. You can do this by pooing there until your cat copies you. I went back to using the toilet. Now my cat uses the toilet. They don't call them copy cats for nothing.
