How long will it take for my acid reflux meds to start really working?

so my doctor basically told me i have acid reflex or ulcer in stomach or both. so he put me on OMEPRAZOLE which is supposed to decrease the amount of acid my stomach makes . well my stomach feels better now but now i have this weird feeling in my throat that makes it feel like i have something stuck in there or like its closed, but i can still breathe and eat fine. ive red this is caused by my acid reflux. ive been taking the OMEPRAZOLE for 7 days now, and my stomach feels better but how long will it take for it to really eliminate my acid reflux and heal my throat and stomach? i havent been tested for GERDS but my doctor says thats probly what its is. should igo back and see him and maybe switch meds?what should i do?
